Moose Jaw’s Graeme Fish set a world record to win a gold medal in the men’s 10,000 metres at the World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships in Utah in February.
Fish crossed the finish line in 12:33.868 to break the world record set in 2015 (12:36.30) by fellow Canadian skater Ted-Jan Bloemen. Fish also captured a bronze medal earlier in the competition in the 5,000-metres race. The medals are the first for Fish at a world championship event.
Fish was nominated for the Athlete of the Month Award by Saskatchewan Amateur Speed Skating Association.
