Tierney swims to success in May

While attending the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Swim Trials in Toronto, Blake Tierney set a new Canadian record in the 200-metre backstroke event and was named to Team Canada for the 2024 Olympic Games, earning May Athlete of the Month.

Tierney swam a Canadian record-breaking time of 1:56.74 in the 200-m backstroke event and set a provincial record in the senior men’s 100-m backstroke event with a time of 53.48 seconds. He received gold in both events.

While at the Trials, Tierney also swam in three other events, including the 200-m individual medley to finish fifth.

Tierney was nominated by Swim Saskatchewan.
