The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame has announced seven inductees to the Class of 2024. The induction class honours diverse areas of sport in Saskatchewan, highlighting numerous communities across the province.
The inductees of the 2024 Class will join the 547 previous inductees in the Hall of Fame on September 28, 2024.

THE BUILDER CATEGORY
Hellquist has made significant contributions to the sport of volleyball in the province and country. Over his career, he has founded youth volleyball clubs in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Regina. In 1987, Hellquist was appointed to the Board of the Canadian Olympic Association, before being elected to serve as the interim President of the Canadian Olympic Committee in 1993. He served as Chef de Mission for the Canadian Paralympic team for those 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Howard judged the women’s figure skating competition at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. She served as a judge and/or referee at three World Figure Skating Championships and four Junior World Figure Skating Championships. Since 1999, Howard has served as a referee and judge at the national level and has been officiating at provincial championships since 1989.
THE TEAM CATEGORY
Team Anderson includes, lead Anita Silvernagle, second Brenda Goertzen, vice-skip Patty Hersikorn and skip Sherry Anderson. The foursome formed in 2016 and have since won six consecutive provincial senior curling titles, five national senior curling championships and three World Senior Curling Championships.
The 2003-04 University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s volleyball team won the school’s fourth men’s national volleyball title. At the national championship held in Quebec City, the Huskies beat the Alberta Golden Bears 3-2 in the final. They entered the national championship as Canada West champions after defeating the Manitoba Bisons 3-2. The Huskies had a 21-6 overall record in the season
THE ATHLETE CATEGORY
For 36 years, Mitsuing competed as a chuckwagon driver. In 1992, he won the Aggregate Championship at the Calgary Stampede for having the fastest combined time of his races. In addition, he won the Fastest Time Award at the Stampede in 2012, 2015, and 2019. Mitsuing was elected to serve four terms as president of the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association
In 1947, Olson became the first Canadian-born cowboy to win a World Rodeo Championship in saddle bronc. Throughout the 40s, he won International Rodeo Association’s saddle bronc titles in three states. Olson was inducted into the Canadian Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1982 and passed away in 1983, recognized for his numerous national rodeo championships titles.
For 17 years, Stone was a member of the national team and won 19 consecutive national championships in her weight class. She attended six World Cups and won two medals at the 2002 Junior Worlds. In 2012, she won the Top Female Black Belt Award at the Pan-American Championships and competed at a total of five Pan American Championships throughout her career. Stone was named Sask Sport’s Youth Female Athlete of the Year in 2002.
