Indigenous Sport
Sask Sport is committed to providing ongoing program support and training that aim to advance Indigenous athletes, coaches and volunteers.
Many supports address responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action specifically related to sport (87-91).
This programming is done in partnership with the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, Métis Nation Saskatchewan, as well as the 11 Saskatchewan Tribal Councils and with funding from the Sask Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation.

Indigenous Sport Enhancement Program
The programs is aimed at developing and preparing Indigenous athletes for major competitions and multi-sport games with a focus on NAIG.
Tribal Council and First Nations Coordinator Program
Fourteen full-time coordinators support 74 First Nation communities in the province to build access and participation to sport, culture and recreation.
Future Sport Program
Composed of three areas: Future Sport, Future Stars and Future Leaders, all with the goal of boosting Indigenous accessibility in sport.
Grants
Multiple grants are available to support the development of Indigenous athletes, communities and coaches through sport.
North American Indigenous Games (NAIG)
Held every four years, NAIG provides Indigenous Saskatchewan athletes the opportunity to compete against athletes from other provinces and states.
Nîkânîwin
A culturally rooted initiative designed to inspire Indigenous youth through mentorship, leadership and sport.
Indigenous Sport Leadership Council
A volunteer-driven, community-based committee whose primary mechanism is to assist the Sask Sport Board of Directors with strategic direction.
Indigenous Coaches and Officials Program
Facilitating training and development opportunities for Indigenous peoples to become involved in sport as a coach or an official.
