Sask Sport mourns the loss of former board President, Donald (Don) McDougall.
His passion for sport and youth mentorship is catalogued through the community and programs that he served throughout his life.
McDougall worked as a physical education teacher and coach before transitioning to be a principal in Regina. Outside of his career, he volunteered his time at countless events such as the 1973 and 1983 World Men’s Curling Championships, the 1992 Brier and the Western Canada Summer Games in 1975 and 1987.
In 2017, his efforts within the provincial sport scene were recognized when McDougall was inducted as a builder into Regina’s Sports Hall of Fame.
For decades, McDougall selflessly devoted his time to sport in Saskatchewan, which led him to serve as President of Sask Sport’s Board of Directors from 1997-98. In addition, he was a part of KidSport Saskatchewan for 29 years, serving as provincial chair from 2002-2013, as well as served terms as president of the Regina Rams, Prairie Junior Football Conference and Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.
