Long-serving diving board member, Carol Lunn, honoured with Volunteer Recognition Award

Starting to support her daughter’s interest in diving, Carol Lunn has been a volunteer in Saskatchewan since 1995. Lunn one of six individuals honoured with a Volunteer Recognition Award in the 2020 Saskatchewan Sport Awards.

She was nominated by Dive Sask.

In addition to serving as president on the Dive Sask Board of Directors for six years, Lunn organized five provincial championships, five Western championships, Novice Nationals, Junior Nationals, Canada Games and, most recently, was the Technical Chair at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games. By creating a “Meet Manager’s Bible” for the provincial association, she has helped develop other leaders and create a standard of meet hosting in the province and country.

Lunn has chaperoned athletes and managed teams throughout Canada, the US and Cuba, as well as served on the Diving Plongeon Canada Executive Director working group. In 2019, Lunn was honoured with the Dive Sask Volunteer of the Year Award.

Each day this week, two recipients from the six long-serving volunteers and the four dedicated and decorated coaches honoured as recipients of the 2020 Saskatchewan Sport Awards will be featured through tribute videos on Sask Sport and the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan’s website and social media channels. The Saskatchewan Sport Awards honours the hard work and dedication of those in the province’s amateur sport community.

Nominees for the Saskatchewan Sport Awards were submitted by active and affiliate members of Sask Sport. Recipients were selected by a Sask Sport awards committee.

The Saskatchewan Sport Awards are supported by Sask Lotteries, the main fundraiser for sport, culture and recreation groups in Saskatchewan.
