After weeks of preparation, the 2026 Tony Cote Summer Games are about to begin!

Hundreds of athletes will be welcomed into North Battleford as they play host to the biennial multi-sport event.

The Games will feature events in archery, canoe, golf, soccer, softball, beach volleyball and athletics, with three different age categories (13U, 15U and 17U) joining in competition.

The event will officially commence with the arrival of the runners who dedicated 12 days to participate in the traditional Lance Run, as previously done for the 2024 Games. Fourteen youth will transport the lance by foot from La Ronge to North Battleford, with the goal of arriving for Opening Ceremonies on July 26.

The run symbolizes the previous hosts of the Summer Games – Lac La Ronge Indian Band – clearing a path for the 2026 athletes, in addition to honouring the spirit of Games founder Tony Cote.

Opening ceremonies will take place on Sunday, July 26, with competition commencing the following day.
