February is Black History Month

Geometric orange and green background pattern with green overlay and Black History Month text

February is known across the country as Black History Month.

The month is about honouring the contributions that Black people have made, and continue to make, in all sectors of society including sport.

Sask Sport is committed to providing fun, safe and healthy sport environments, as well as encouraging and supporting diverse and inclusive sport opportunities. Throughout the month of February, resources, information and stories will be shared to celebrate Black History Month through the eyes of sport. Readers will be introduced to an up-and-coming athletics star from Swift Current in Scott Joseph, learn how the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum is celebrating innovation and contributions of Black Saskatchewan residents in all sectors and meet provincial sport heroes inducted into hall of fames across the country.
