Employment Type: Contract, approx. 22.5 hrs/week, hybrid working model
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

General Description
The Grassroots Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of programming and administration for Saskatchewan Wrestling that focuses on grassroots development. This grassroots development includes:

  • Supporting various aspects of Sask Wrestling’s multi-year strategic plan, but especially focused on the Strategic Priority of Fostering Grassroots Community Development
    • Fostering grassroots community development and the establishment of new clubs.
    • Developing programs and activities for new and current members to engage in a variety of roles and programs at all levels.
    • Growing the membership through diverse populations, new opportunities, and fostering overall enjoyment by participants.
    • Growing the base of participants in the sport of Wrestling.

Organizational Structure
The Grassroots Technical Director:

  • Will report directly to the Executive Director.
  • Will undergo performance reviews by the Executive Director, Sask Wrestling President, Executive Committee, and/or designates.

Liaisons
The Grassroots Technical Director liaises with (among others):

  • Sask Wrestling Executive Director
  • Sask Wrestling Board of Directors
  • Wrestling Canada Lutte
  • Sask Sport Inc.
  • Provincial wrestling clubs

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting existing wrestling clubs in Saskatchewan
    • This will include travel
  • Supporting the Wrestle for Fun initiative
  • Outreach to unaffiliated programs. This will include contacting communities that do not have Sask Wrestling Clubs and organizing camps and information session to try and establish clubs in those areas.
  • Programming to deliver the Long-Term Athlete Development model from Wrestling Canada Lutte from the Active Start phase through to athletes transitioning to high performance in the Training to Compete phase, and also includes the Enriched for Life phase
  • Working closely with Sask Wrestling stakeholders around the province to creatively solves some of the issues facing the sport.
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Writing grant proposals and procuring sponsorships
  • Supporting wrestling competitions, camps, and other wrestling opportunities in Saskatchewan especially at the Grassroots level
  • Summer Programming with staff for Sask Wrestling
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives
  • Pre-season, In-season, and Off-season programming
  • Other duties assigned by the Executive Director, for example:
    • Membership Registration
    • Website maintenance, Social Media updates and monitoring
    • Newsletter
    • Data Entry
    • Etc.

Qualifications
The successful candidate:

  • Will be required to have or work toward various certifications:
    • Making Headway
    • National Coaching Certification Program-Comp Intro is an asset
    • First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Will require a personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Willing to work some evenings and weekends
  • A wrestling background will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the key players in the Wrestling Community in Saskatchewan will be an asset.
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Clean driving transcript
