Sask Sport – Accounting Coordinator – Client Services

Job Purpose
This position is responsible for a variety of day-to-day bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting functions that provide the necessary support to the accounting service division. This position works as part of the larger client service team and is expected to provide a professional, courteous, and efficient service to all clients utilizing the accounting services provided by the Administration Centre for Sport, Culture and Recreation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general accounting duties for client base.
- Process all types of financial transactions (invoices, receipt batches, cheques, journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, CRA & sales tax remittances, etc.) on a timely basis.
- Analysis of client records, assessing reasonability and compliance with sales tax requirements, etc.
- Prepare and present completed monthly financial statements to Accounting Services Supervisor for review before presenting to client.
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness and compliance with policies and procedures and accounting standards for not-for-profits.
- Communicate with clients to collect appropriate information needed to process transactions.
- Ensure that all formal procedures are followed to safeguard the financial assets of the client organizations.
- Maintain filing systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and other miscellaneous client information.
- Collaborates with Accounting Services Supervisor regarding the effectiveness of current processes, policies, procedures, and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Previous full cycle accounting experience, including reconciling bank statements, creating full financial statement including Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Revenues and Expenses.
- Knowledge of the provincial sport delivery system an asset.
- Experience in the non-profit sector an asset.
- Knowledge of sales taxes would be an asset.
- Demonstrated skills in the following areas:
- Communication – verbal, written, and interpersonal.
- ACCPAC (Sage 300), Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Administration, organization, and time management with attention to detail.
- Customer service.
- Demonstrated abilities in the following areas:
- Self motivated and enthusiastic with positive energy and attitude, contributing and supportive team member.
- Effectively manage a variety of tasks and be able to adapt to unexpected interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
- Demonstrated ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced high volume work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or equivalent education and/or training.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in a role that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties required for this position.
Working Conditions
- Full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent.
- Overtime work may be necessary during busy periods.
- Access to a reliable form of transportation.
- Office environment, occasionally lifting items between 10 – 35lbs.
