Job Summary

  • Connect children and youth with sport, culture, and recreation opportunities within their communities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, schools, community organizations, and service providers.
  • Help identify and remove barriers to participation, including financial, transportation, and socio-economic challenges.
  • Promote awareness of available programs, services, and funding opportunities.
  • Support children and youth in accessing meaningful experiences that contribute to their personal growth, well-being, and sense of belonging.
  • Act as a bridge between families, schools, community partners, and service providers to ensure seamless access to programs and supports.
  • Advocate for inclusive opportunities that encourage participation and engagement for all children and youth.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, supportive, and welcoming environment where children and youth can thrive.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position (35 hours/week) & Wage Range: $27.02-$32.26/hour + benefits
  • Travel throughout the Rivers West District is required
  • Evening and occasional weekend work may be required
  • Work will be completed in schools, community settings, and remote work environments as operationally required

Key Responsibilities:

Consultation:

  • Interview and build rapport and trust with children and their families who may need access to the program
  • Collaborate with selected schools to ensure children and youth can engage in sports, culture, and recreational programs.
  • Promote the Dream Broker program through presentations, promotions, building positive relationships with school staff, community members, families and children.
  • Conduct regular meetings with school staff, community partners, and service providers to address the needs of children and youth.
  • Facilitate relationships between service providers, caregivers, and individuals, advocating for families and nurturing sustained participation.
  • Effectively promote programs and be a positive ambassador for the Dream Broker program, enhancing donations for funding providers.
  • Collaborate with service providers to bridge financial gaps and ensure kids can participate in local sport, culture & recreation programs.

Administration:

  • Research and identify sport, culture and recreation program opportunities for the community through online research and direct inquiries.
  • Develop new programs tailored to after-school and Dream Broker program participants’ unique needs.
  • Maintain open communication channels between all stakeholders.
  • Communicate upcoming programs, changes, and reminders to families, students and school staff.
  • Coordinate with cab companies for bookings, changes, and error resolution. ensuring effective communication with families.
  • Maintain accurate statistics, reports, evaluations, and funding documentation while meeting established deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline including Sociology, Business, Recreation, Kinesiology
  • Experience
    • Experience working in sport and recreation administration or a related field
    • A background where sports, culture and recreation are prominent with experience working with children.
    • Prior experience working with underserved families.
    • Prior experience working with culturally diverse demographics.
    • Knowledge and experience in program planning, delivery, and program evaluation.
  • Certifications
    • First Aid and CPR-C
    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Strong understanding of value of sport, culture and recreation
    • Ability to build strong partnerships
    • Ability to maintain confidential information
    • Must be able to work under minimal supervision
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, youth, families, service providers and school staff
    • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan accordingly.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Office 365
