After competing in the provincial championship and representing Saskatchewan at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games [NAIG], Maxwell Thille was named the July Athlete of the Month for his 11 medals between the two events.
At only 13, Thille took home six gold medals from NAIG and qualified for nationals due to his outstanding performance at 2023 ManSask Summer Provincial Championships. His NAIG medal haul started with gold in the men’s 14U 50-metre breaststroke, 14U 100-m breaststroke, 14U 200-m breaststroke and gold as part of a relay team in 14U men’s 4×100-m freestyle, 4×50-m medley and 4×50-m freestyle.
Prior to his performance at NAIG, Thille claimed five other medals at the 2023 ManSask Summer Provincial Championships. Thille claimed gold in men’s 13U 200-m free relay and 200-m medley relay, silver in men’s 13U 200-m medley relay and bronze in men’s 13U 50-m breaststroke and 100-m breaststroke. He is a member of the Saskatoon Goldfins.
