This is an excellent experience for someone interested in obtaining experience in leadership skills, program planning, coaching and sport facilitation. Excellent for students pursuing Recreation, Education and/or Kinesiology or who simply enjoy the sport of soccer, being outdoors and working with children.

Job Title: “Soccer Kids in the Park” Program Leader
Position Type: 33 hours per week
Employment: July 5 – August 19, 2021 ~ 10:30am – 5:15pm Monday to Thursday, 11:00am-5:00pm on Friday
Hourly Wage: Hourly $16.25 – $16.75/hour plus mileage
Positions Available: Four

Job Duties:

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision; work as a team with one other Soccer Program Leader.
  • Report mileage, receipts, timesheets and program attendance on a regular basis.
  • Travel to various playground sites within the City of Saskatoon instructing fun soccer drills to children ages 4 to 14 by following a set program schedule.

Requirements:

  • Must have played some soccer and enjoy the game.
  • Experience coaching and/or working with children.
  • Mandatory Coach Certifications/Training Prior to Start Date:
    • U7-U9 Fundamentals (Clinics can be completed online) ~ expense is reimbursed upon completion of course and submission of receipt
    • Respect in Sport – Free online course available
    • Making Headway – Free online course available
    • Making Ethical Decisions– Online Evaluation ~ expense is reimbursed upon completion of course and submission of receipt
    • 3-hour orientation and training session with SYSI Program Coordinator prior to start of program (between June 22-26, based on availability)
  • “Learn to Train” Coach Certification an asset.
  • Post-secondary student returning to school in the fall is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license and criminal record check with vulnerable sector.
  • Proper vehicle for transportation is required either from you or your co-worker.
  • Ability to start by July 5, 2021.
  • First Aid and CPR would be an asset but not required.
