Overview
Saskatchewan Rugby is the sole governing body for rugby in Saskatchewan and it is our aim to develop and promote this amateur sport in the province. This volunteer association provides leadership, consultation and resources to the members within the framework of achieving the overall mission of the Saskatchewan Rugby. The association currently has more than 2000 registered members and provides development opportunities for volunteers, players, coaches, referees and administrators.

We are currently seeking multiple Rookie Rugby Leaders to join our team based out of the following areas:

The Saskatchewan Rugby Rookie Rugby Leader is available to summer students only through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, ending August 31,
2022.

Rookie Rugby Leaders are responsible for the local delivery of Rugby Canada’s Rookie Rugby program. These individuals are the driving force behind the national program and are the keys to the growth of participation at the youth level. Saskatchewan Rugby is seeking passionate and committed individuals with impeccable organizational and interpersonal skills who have experience working with both children and adults.

Job Duties
This position often works with organizations such as schools, community centers, before and after school programs, churches and multisport organizations to deliver Rookie Rugby initiatives relating to physical literacy and physical education requirements. They distribute information and organize rugby projects, camps, programs and instructor training.

Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining an extensive knowledge of the Rookie Rugby program including the curriculum, resources and materials, online resources, etc.
  • To become familiar with Rookie Rugby’s role in the Provincial strategic plan and develop a full understanding of their respective Provincial Union’s Rookie Rugby Operational Plan.
  • Developing an in depth knowledge of clubs, understanding their strengths and areas for development. Use this information to work with each club to establish and maintain a comprehensive plan for delivering Rookie Rugby in their communities. Support each club to help maximize their outreach into their communities.
  • Coordinating, delivering and promoting relevant activities, classes and events, often within a specific community or to targeted groups.
  • Identifying appropriate groups for the recruitment of volunteers. Working with these groups to employ, train, support, develop and manage throughout their activities.
  • Evaluating and monitoring activities and projects using performance indicators. Reporting progress through online reporting and written reports to Provincial Unions and Rugby Canada.
  • Attending local, regional and national meetings, seminars and conferences, as needed.
  • Working in partnership with school initiatives to encourage participation in rugby. Working with school administration to get Rookie Rugby adopted into school curriculum and activities.
  • Managing resources and a budget.

Location:

  • Two Positions Available in Saskatchewan with travel expected.
    • Saskatoon – serving Saskatoon and middle half of the province
