Sask Sport – Sport Consultant (Adaptive Sport)

Job Purpose
Provide consulting services, guidance, and support to assigned Provincial or Multi Sport Organizations (PSOs/MSOs) focusing on Adaptive Sport in Saskatchewan. Additionally, you will support the funding and membership education areas and other general sport initiatives.
The Successful Candidate will need
- Knowledge and understanding of the Provincial and National sport delivery systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of Adaptive Sport or working with policies and programs centered around assisting people/organization meet accessibility needs.
- Ability to effectively guide applicants through application process and translate policy and guidelines to members to successfully apply for grants and programs.
- The ability to consult and communicate effectively with a variety of colleagues, members, and public to understand their needs.
- The ability to build and maintain co-operative and collaborative relationships with colleagues, team members, PSO’s, external stakeholders and service providers.
- An understanding of the programs, services, associated regulations, sport culture, and community involvement.
- A flexible mindset, open to different and new ways of doing things, and a willingness to modify one’s preferred way of doing things.
- Able to use analytical and conceptual thinking methods, and able to modify thinking strategy situationally.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Consult with assigned PSOs/MSOs.
- Point of contact for communication – ensure two-way communication between Sask Sport and its members.
- Evaluate PSOs’ applications and follow-up reporting.
- Understanding of assigned PSOs/MSOs and any issues or concerns they face. Primarily with a focus on Adaptive Sport.
- Provide guidance on sport development initiatives, funding programs, resources, organizational development.
- Assisting organizations in finding opportunities to grow, expand and further include adaptive programming.
- Generate awareness and promotion of opportunities, programs or services that can benefit organizations.
- Understand broad issues and concerns facing amateur sport in the province.
- Coordination of grant processes for Sask Sport administered grants.
- Support funding administration for PSO’s.
- Assist with the implementation of changes to the Annual Funding program.
- Support members with education initiatives and learnings by, coordination of education, workshops, training, etc. opportunities for members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in kinesiology, sport, culture, or recreation administration (or a relevant discipline) or a strong combination of relevant training and experience.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in sport, culture, recreation management or a related field associated with competitive sport.
- Experience in working with Accessibility programing and client interaction.
- Experience with computer software and data collection.
- Experience in high-performance sport and the national sport system an asset.
- Knowledge in the Provincial sport delivery system, including Long Term Development (LTD) principles, National Coaching Certification Program for Coaches, Officials’ certification components, sport development planning, organizational development, evaluation, and consulting, as well as familiarity with funding programs.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), sound administration, and time management abilities, as well as proficiency in problem-solving and using computer programs and databases.
Working Conditions
- Up to 37.5 hours per week.
- Flexible hours. Evening and weekend work will be required.
